Consultations
What is it?
Consultations are sought when a client recognizes conditions or situations are beyond their level of expertise or available resources. Consultations offer support for a concern or problem a client may encounter and allows a team approach to be facilitated for a maximized resolution. Welfare of the client is central to the consultation. Changing Tides Therapy offers both clinical and non-clinical consultations to agencies, practitioners, individuals and families including parent support.
How do they differ?
Clinical consultations involve professional dialogue among practitioners where they share opinions and knowledge with the aim of improving their ability to provide the best care to their clients. Various levels of consultation may be needed to make accurate diagnoses, provide technical expertise, and recommend a specific treatment plan or course of action. Clients may also seek clinical consultation to obtain a second opinion or explore other options for care. Single-visit consultations and continuing collaborative care consultations are offered.
Parent support is also offered through a consultation format for parents struggling with their child(ren)s behaviors and emotional needs. They are tailored psychoeducational sessions where parents can discuss and learn how to deal with specific challenges in parenting and receive specific guidance and resources. Parent support consultations facilitate goals of working with parents to identify and address the emotional needs of their child(ren) and establish a more meaningful and connected relationship that helps both develop in a healthy manner.
