Psychotherapy Sessions

What is it?

Psychotherapy is a process that enables a client to transform the meaning of their experiences and symptoms in a way that helps them improve functionality and adapt safely. It is a highly effective intervention utilized to treat mental health conditions. Psychotherapy can assist in addressing psychological, behavioral and somatic concerns and symptoms impacting a clients life.

Why is it important?

Psychotherapy offers a client new ways to navigate changes to problems they have identified, gain new insight and assists in achieving their personal goals. A client receiving psychotherapy treatment can transform their problems, experiences and environment into a healthier more adaptable lifestyle and mindset. The psychotherapy process can help a client uncover new meanings to their experiences, how they perceive themselves, and move forward in life.

What can I expect?

At Changing Tides Therapy developing a therapeutic alliance with the client is critical in order for psychotherapy to be effective. During the initial session, or intake, the client will discuss the presenting problem(s) and provide a thorough background and history. From there the client and I will work to develop a collaborative treatment plan to determine the best course of action to address the identified problem(s). Individual and family sessions for children, adolescents, young adults and families are offered. If a client is under the age of 18 parental consent is required and signed upon intake and a legal guardian is required to be present for the initial session. All sessions are confidential and HIPPA compliant. Currently, I accept several insurances but a superbill may be provided to you for out-of-network benefits. There are a limited number of slots for sliding scale fee so please contact me directly to discuss availability.
